H. John Higginbotham, M.D.
Dr. Higginbotham specializes in the practice of general
orthopaedics with special interest in knee, hip, and elbow
joint replacement. Other areas of special interest include
shoulder, knee arthroscopy, and carpal tunnel surgeries.
He received his M.D. degree from the University of Alabama
in Birmingham in 1972. During his orthopaedic surgery residency
at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, he served
as chief resident. He is Board Certified and holds fellowship
status in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
His many years of clinical and surgical experience is enriched
by the numerous professional associations he holds. He
currently serves as Chairperson of the Physician Advisory
Board of Blue Cross/Blue Shield P.M.D. and is an Associate
Professor of Surgery at the UAB Clinical Center in Huntsville.
