Troy A. Layton, M.D.
Dr. Layton is a specialist in sports medicine and a 1989
graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine
in Birmingham, Alabama. After completing his residency in
orthopaedic surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville
in 1994, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at the
University of Oklahoma. He is certified by the American
Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has served as team physician
and consultant for such notable teams as University of Florida
and Oklahoma State University as well as consultant for
the Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Baseball. He is currently
performing cartilage transplantation of the knee. Dr. Layton
is a course instructor for the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons in advanced knee ligament reconstructive procedures
as well as a Clinical Instructor at UAB.
